Believing Israel will not go hungry
Matthew 15:31-32 (KJV) the multitude…glorified the God of Israel. Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way.
The teaching here for Israel is that God would not let those relying upon him go hungry – “I will not send them away fasting.”
This was the feeding of the four thousand (Matthew 15:38). Previously he had fed five thousand (Matthew 14:21), where he had made the same point to his disciples:
Matthew 14:15-16 (KJV) And when it was evening, his disciples came to him, saying, This is a desert place, and the time is now past; send the multitude away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves victuals. But Jesus said unto them, They need not depart; give ye them to eat.
God had not allowed Israel to go hungry in the wilderness…
Exodus 16:12-15 (KJV) I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel: speak unto them, saying, At even ye shall eat flesh, and in the morning ye shall be filled with bread; and ye shall know that I am the LORD your God. And it came to pass, that at even the quails came up, and covered the camp: and in the morning the dew lay round about the host. And when the dew that lay was gone up, behold, upon the face of the wilderness there lay a small round thing, as small as the hoar frost on the ground. And when the children of Israel saw it, they said one to another, It is manna: for they wist not what it was. And Moses said unto them, This is the bread which the LORD hath given you to eat.
…and he will not allow the remnant of Israel to do so during the time of great tribulation:
Revelation 12:6 (KJV) And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.
Note: This promise of miraculous provision is not for the Body of Christ. In the BoC, if we don’t work we don’t eat:
2 Thessalonians 3:10 (KJV) For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.
