Ephesians 2:8-10 (KJV) For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Everybody is walking

Unsaved men are walking according to this world…

Ephesians 2:2 (KJV) Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

…and saints are walking after the Spirit:

Romans 8:1 (KJV) There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

A worthy walk

Colossians 1:10 (KJV) That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;

This verse tells us that it only a worthy walk which is pleasing to God, and it defines such a walk for us. That is, a worthy walk is one which:

• Is fruitful in every good work;

• Increases in the knowledge of God.

A worthy walk is not optional for a saint - it comes with the calling:

Ephesians 4:1 (KJV) I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,

The next two verses provide a summary of a worthy walk:

Ephesians 4:2-3 (KJV) With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

Put simply, to walk worthy is to walk according to who we are.

How to walk worthy

To walk worthy requires change. It requires:

• Putting off the old man:

Ephesians 4:22 (KJV) That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;

• Putting on the new man:

Ephesians 4:24 (KJV) And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

• Being renewed in the spirit of the mind

Ephesians 4:23 (KJV) And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;

Therefore it is only saved men who can have a worthy walk.
