It is the responsibility of the church to align its will to God’s, and its ministry work should be the result of that alignment.

The will of God is to be found in scripture:

1 Timothy 2:4 (KJV) (God) Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

This gives the church its two-fold purpose and ministry i.e.,

1. To get men saved, and

2. To bring them to the knowledge of the truth.

This is a summary of the work of the ministry.

We see this two-fold ministry in Paul’s work:

Getting men saved:-

Acts 14:1 (KJV) And it came to pass in Iconium, that they went both together into the synagogue of the Jews, and so spake, that a great multitude both of the Jews and also of the Greeks believed.

Bringing men to a knowledge of the truth:-

Romans 1:11 (KJV) For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the end ye may be established;

1 Corinthians 6:16 (KJV) What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh.

Colossians 1:28 (KJV) Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:

1 Thessalonians 3:10 (KJV) Night and day praying exceedingly that we might see your face, and might perfect that which is lacking in your faith?
